WORTHINGTON — New Ulm had nine players collect goals on Thursday night in an 11-2 Big South Conference boys’ hockey win over Worthington.
Leading New Ulm was AJ Areneson and Kedar Schmitz, who each had a pair of goals. Blake Soukup, Braxten Hoffmann, Jace Addy, Keagan Schiro, Jack Albrecht, Cole Hesse also scored a goal for New Ulm, while Dawson Kraus netted his first career varsity goal for the Eagles.
Kyle Esser made 14 saves in net for New Ulm.
New Ulm (15-2, 15-0) hosts Hutchinson at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Boys’ Basketball
Nicollet 59, Sibley East 50
NICOLLET — Shane Stevensen scored his 1,000th career point for Nicollet on Thursday in a 59-50 nonconference boys’ basketball win over Sibely East.
He finished the game with 26 points, while Dylan Willaert added 15 points and Riley Mans had 9.
The Raiders (9-8) host Madelia on Saturday.
Cedar Mountain 76, Wabasso 51
MORGAN — Cedar Mountain defeated Wabasso 76-51 on Thursday night in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action.
Leading the Cougars in the win was Caden Kleinschmidt, who had 26 points and nine rebounds. Dakota Pendleton and Devonte Charles each had 15 points for Cedar Mountain, while Nick Freitag had 12 points.
Wabasso was led by Isaac Kronback’s 15 points, while Will Carlson added 13.
Wabasso (8-9, 7-8) finishes its regular season on Saturday when it travels to Springfield, while Cedar Mountain (7-10, 6-9) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Saturday to cap off its regular season.
GFW 71, Sleepy Eye 50
WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop downed Sleepy Eye 71-50 on Thursday night in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action.
GFW was led by Dominic Henrichs and Johnnie Ambrose, who each had 13 points. Damian Hopp and Evan Elder also each added 12 points for GFW, while Lorenzo Catapano added 11.
Kegan Heiderscheidt led the Indians with 21 points, while Erizen Traconis scored 12.
Girls’ Basketball
GHEC/T/ML 65, Madelia 28
MADELIA — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther defeated Madelia 65-28 on Thursday in Valley Conference girls’ basketball action.
Madelia was led by Ashlyn Sweet’s 10 points, while Danika Eisenmenger added 9.
GHEC/T/ML was led by Emily Stauter’s 14 points.
Madelia is at Glenville on Saturday.
Wabasso 71, Cedar Mountain 31
WABASSO — Wabasso coasted to a 71-31 win over Cedar Mountain on Thursday in Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball action.
Wabasso was led by Sarah Franta’s 24 points and five steals, while Kelsey Frank also added 24 points. Ashlyn Daub chipped in 8 points for Wabasso.
No stats were submitted for Cedar Mountain.
Wabasso is at Cottonwood for Section 3A playoff action on Tuesday, while Cedar Mountain is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Saturday for its regular-season finale.

SLEEPY EYE — Kadence Hesse’s big night helped lead Sleepy Eye to a 59-44 win over Nicollet/Loyola on Thursday night in nonconference girls’ basketball action.
Hesse ended with 21 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five assists. Kaydince Thoms added 18 points and four steals for the Indians, while Brea Mertz had 6 points and eight rebounds.
No stats were submitted for Nicollet.
Nicollet/Loyola begins playoffs on Wednesday when it travels to St. Clair, while Sleepy Eye is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran this Saturday.
College Volleyball
MANKATO — The Martin Luther College volleyball team fell to Bethany Lutheran 26-24, 25-22 and 26-24 on Thursday night in UMAC action.
Kelsey Birschbach continued her strong start to the season with a team-best 11 kills to go with 14 digs. Kate Aswege led the team with 17 digs, while Kylie Wolf recorded 13 assists.
MLC fell to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play in defeat.
