HUTCHINSON — Hutchinson defeated New Ulm 5-2 in Section 2AA tennis action on Tuesday.

New Ulm’s Makiah Otto won 6-1, 4-6, 10-7over Maggie Eckhart at No. 1 singles and Lydia King won 6-1, 6-3 over Marlee Hanander at No. 4 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Hutchinson’s Hannah Ladwig won 6-0, 6-1 over Abby Hietala and Hutchinson’s Ellie Petersen won 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.

Hutchinson swept the doubles competition to pick up the victory. Hutchinson’s Ellie Campbell and Paige Telecky won 6-1, 6-4 over New Ulm’s Emily Guggisberg and Maddi O’Connor at first doubles and Avarie Peterson and Ericka Eckhart won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles over Melanie Merkel and Alex Vigil. Lauren Nelson and Claire Schweim won 6-0, 6-3 over Nevaeh Ubl and Claire Brown at third doubles.
