FAIRMONT — Reece Melby scored his 1,000th career point for New Ulm High School on Thursday night in a 57-45 loss to Fairmont in Big South Conference boys’ basketball action.

Melby led the Eagles with 23 points, which put him at exactly 1,000 career points. Cole Rhode also had 17 points and 18 rebounds for New Ulm.

New Ulm (0-4, 0-3) faces Worthington in the BSC Showcase opener at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fairmont.
