Amateur baseball: Essig tops Searles in TEL action

SEARLES — Essig defeated Searles in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

For Essig, Jake Stadick was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kyle Helget was 1 for 1 with a home run and two RBIs for the Bluejays. Mitch Stueber was 1 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Collin Helget was 2 for 5 for Searles.

Avery Stevens earned the win. He allowed five hits in six innings and he struck out nine.

Nick Dewanz gave up three runs in seven innings in the loss.

Springfield 6, Hanska 0

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield blanked Hanska in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action on Sunday.

Brandon Wilhelmi was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Mason Rummel was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Branden Flock was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Brady Mosenden was 2 for 4 to lead Hanska.

Mosenden took the loss, giving up four runs on six hits in seven innings.

Shawn Anderson went the distance for the complete-game shutout. He allowed six hits.

Stark 14, Sleepy Eye 2

SLEEPY EYE — Stark pounded Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Sean Mathiowetz was 4 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBIs for Stark. Zach Haala was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and Adam Sellner was 3 for 5. Dusty Mangen was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Nick Labat was 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

Nathan Kral allowed one run in seven innings for the win.

Alex Sellner allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings for the loss.
