New Ulm wins Jordan tournament

JORDAN — The New Ulm girls’ golf team won the Jordan tournament on Thursday with a team score of 355, which is a school record for Ridges at Sand Creek.

The Eagles were led by medalist Jana Julia Boquet’s 78. Abbey Frauenholtz shot an 82 to finish third overall and Makena Otto finished with a 97. Paige Jacobs shot a 98 for the Eagles.

SANBORN — The Springfield boys took first on Thursday in a golf triangular at the Sanborn Golf Course.

The co-medalists for the boys were Springfield’s Mavrick Winkelmann and Christopher Thram, who both shot a 38.

Also for Springfield, Mason Kretsch and Tim Rogotzke each shot a 42.

Red Rock Central was led by Andrew Hagret, who shot a 45 and Theo Berg, Justin Klabunde and Cade Bittner, who each shot a 48.

Springfield’s Mackenzie Lothert shot a 41 and was the medalist for the girls.

RRC was led by Carley Baumann, who shot a 47 and Bailey Timm, who shot a 55.

WWG boys 185,

Wabasso 204

WESTBOOK — Westbrook/Walnut Grove defeated Wabasso on Thursday in a boys’ golf meet at the Rolling Hills Golf Course.

The medalist was WWG’s Andrew Quade, who shot a 41.

Wabasso was led by Tristan Kuehn, who shot a 45, Jayden Carlson, who shot a 50 and Noah Netzke, who shot a 54.

Sleepy Eye 19,

TRUMAN — Sleepy Eye defeated Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain 19-7 on Thursday in a nonconference softball game.

The winning pitcher was Sleepy Eye’s Kathryn Schroepfer, who had 10 strikeouts and allowed three walks and six hits.

Mandy Pytleski took the loss for ML/GHEC, giving up 15 hits and one walk.

Sleepy Eye was led in hitting by Morgan Klein, who went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI, McKenna Strong, who went 4 for 5 with with two runs scored, a double and three RBIs and Brynja Mielke, who went 3 for 5 with two runs scored, two doubles and three RBIs.

Springfield 11, BOLD 2

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield crushed BOLD in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.

For Springfield, Sarah Dunn was 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Sam Richert was 3 for 4 with a run scored. Megan Ploeger was 1 for 2 with a triple, walk, and a hit by pitch. Taylor Augustin was 2 for 4 with a double. Kendall Kelly was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Brittany Rogotzke was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and tow runs scored.

Brittany Rogotzke got the complete-game win, allowing only two runs, eight hits, two walks, and she struck out seven.

St. Mary’s 9, GFW 0

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Tomahawk Conference softball on Thursday.

Lauren Hoffmann was 3 for 5 for the Knights with an RBI and two runs scored. Alexa Owens was 2 for 4. Leah Weiss pitched the complete game to earn the win. She allowed seven hits.

Jordan Rettig had two hits for the Thunderbirds.

MVL 10, GFW 0

FAIRFAX — Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

In Game 1, Mason Cox was 4 for 5 with three runs scored and Teddy Giefer was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Derek Weisensel was 2 fo 3 with three RBIs. Matt Rieger pitched three innings and struck out four to earn the win. Cooper Braka pitched one inning and allowed six runs to take the loss.

In Game 2, Weisensel allowed two hits in five innings for the win. Jace Marotz was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Mason Cox was 1 for 3 with two runs scored.

St. Mary’s 4, Loyola 3

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Mankato Loyola in a nonconference baseball game.

Dominick Helget earned the win. He pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two hits. Nick Labat struck out nine over 4 2/3 innings and alwo went 2 for 2. John Luu Mathiowetz was 1 for 1 with an RBI and Helget was 1 for 2. Carter Currans was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

St. Mary’s (9-9) is at Minneapolis Southwest on Saturday.
