“A Wonderful Life”
To the Editor:
A Wonderful Life
It would’ve been a wonderful life
Had you just let me live.
I had potential, promise, pulse;
I had so much to give.
It would’ve been a wonderful life;
My family traits were true.
My hands and feet resembled Dad’s;
My face looked just like you.
It would’ve been a wonderful life.
I was innately blessed
With gifts for music, math and art
To live with zeal and zest.
It would’ve been a wonderful life;
I would’ve made you proud.
I had your penchant to succeed,
To stand out in the crowd.
It would’ve been a wonderful life,
So, Mom, I need to know,
How could you think I had no right
To simply live and grow?
It would’ve been a wonderful life
Were I with you today.
Yet, I am not because you threw
My wonderful life away!
Dear mothers contemplating abortion: there are alternatives. There are people eager to help you save the life of your baby and see you through the circumstances facing you. There are pregnancy centers, adoption agencies, churches, and social services to help you and your child. Give your baby the gift of life. Don’t throw away your child’s unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Don’t throw away your child’s wonderful life.
