Ginny is survived by daughters Ann Wendorff (Ron) of Hutchinson and Elizabeth Heidmann of
Chanhassen; sons Robert Heidmann of Nisswa and Randy (Lorna) Heidmann of Baxter; six grandchildren; five great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents Helen and Herman
Halvorson; parents-in-law Lydia and Ernst Heidmann; sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Bud Schlueter.
Virginia Ann Halvorson was born on June 23, 1931, in New Ulm. She was raised and educated in Gibbon. In January 1949, she married Robert Heidmann in Watertown, SD. The couple settled in Gaylord and raised their family there. In 1955, they built the home on 9th Street where Ginny lived for the next 63 years. Ginny was employed over the years at Andy Bremer Insurance, the Gaylord Clinic, and Len Biermann-State Farm Insurance, where she retired from in 1993. Ginny was a 75-year member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was active at Forever Young Senior Center and the Gaylord Baseball Association. She ran the scoreboard at Islander home games for many years and worked at the fish fry for over half a century. A 3-time colon cancer survivor, Ginny was also involved with Sibley County’s Relay for Life. She enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, and playing cards. She liked to bake and cook from scratch, especially soup, coffee cake, and apple kuchen. In retirement, she started making baby quilts as gifts for family and friends. Ginny was an avid and loyal fan of Minnesota’s sports teams, especially the Twins. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and was a fixture at their events. She is missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations in Ginny’s name to Forever Young Senior Center in Gaylord or your favorite charity.
