New Ulm Police

• Met with a 47-year-old Hanska man Thursday who said he his ex-wife, a 44-year-old New Ulm woman is violating a child custody agreement. The man said he is supposed to have his two daughters on the second weekend of the month and the woman said she is going to keep her two daughters this weekend. Police were unable to contact the woman. A report was done for documentation.

• Responded to a domestic call at 8:26 p.m., Saturday on the 1500 block of N. German St. A 50-year-old New Ulm woman said she was hit in the face by her boyfriend, a 54-year-old new Ulm man, while they were in a vehicle. It was learned the alleged assault happened in Sibley County. Sibley County took over an investigation and asked that the man be taken into jail custody.

• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Mequon, Wi. man for speeding at 1:01 a.m. Sunday. Impairment signs were noticed and the man was arrested and transported to jail for 4th-degree DWI, speeding and no proof of insurance. A report was sent to the city attorney’s office for review.

• At 8:01 a.m. Monday, police noticed an illegally-parked trailer near Highland and Center displaying 2024 tabs but showed 2020 tabs by the Department of Motor Vehicles. A report on the trailer owner, a 24-year-old New Ulm man including intent to escape tax, unlawful use of unregistered vehicle certificate and use of altered plates was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Stopped a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old New Ulm woman at 9:41 p.m. Sunday for failure to use turn signal. Impairment signs were noticed by the driver who was arrested and taken to jail for third-degree DWI. A report was sent to the city attorney for review.

• Took a theft report at 6:10 p.m. Monday from a Walmart Asset Protection Agent who recognized a 35-year-old Fairmont man on video surveillance. Total theft value was $548.71. A list of stolen items was not available. A report was sent to investigators.

• Responded to a report of a man in distress on the 800 block S. Payne at 12:35 a.m. Monday. Police found a 37-year-old New Ulm man yelling in his neighbor’s yard. He was transported to the New Ulm Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

• Responded to a complaint of a vehicle hitting a legally-parked vehicle at Broadway and 7th Street South at 2:33 p.m. Monday. Both vehicles were damaged. No personal injury was reported. A 76-year-old Winthrop woman was stopped in Nicollet County. A report was done for documentation. No more information was available.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash near TH 5 and 411th Avenue, (CR 9), Dryden Township, about one mile west of Arlington at 1:52 p.m. Monday. Chanceler Baucom, 27, Lufkin, Tx. was driving a 2011 Ford F-350 pickup truck eastbound on TH 5 when he tried to turn around to go westbound and collided with Paul LeBlanc, 42, Hutchinson, who was eastbound on TH 5. LeBlanc was transported to a local hospital for apparent non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles had moderate damage. Arlington Police, Ambulance and Fire Departments and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted.

Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on TH 22 at 340th Street, Sibley Township, Sibley County at 1:33 a.m. Saturday. Jada Lynn Schwarzrock, 18, Montgomery, was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 southbound on Highway 22, left the road and rolled in the north ditch. She was transported to a St. Peter hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She did not wear a seat belt and alcohol was involved. Gaylord Police and Fire, the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office and Ridgeview Ambulance assisted.
