Steven Raymond Schaefer was born March 21, 1950 to Leonard and Agnes (Landsteiner) Schaefer in New Ulm. He graduated from high school in 1969 and began working at Schaefer Well Company. In December of 1985, Steve was united in marriage to Jeanne Hoffman at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. Steve continued working at Schaefer Well Company and then established Schaefer Crane Service. He continued to run Schaefer Well Company and Schaefer Crane Service with his cousin until he retired in 2017. After retirement, he began working full time on his favorite hobby – building street rods. In his free time, Steve and Jeanne went to many car shows and trips to Dallas, Vegas and California to watch his brother, Kenny, race. After many trips they became part of the pit crew. Steve also enjoyed going to fishing openers with his father-in-law, Pat, and tinkering on anything and everything with his brothers. Steve especially enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with the Dutchmen. His patience, innovative mind, and lighthearted memory will be remembered by all who knew him.

Blessed be his memory.
