New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash with possible injuries at 9:12 p.m., Aug. 7 at 12th south and Minnesota Street. A 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Larry J. Becker, 63, New Ulm, rear-ended a 1983 Ford Thunderbird driven by Terrence J. Richter, 57, New Ulm. Damage was moderate/disabling to the rear end of the Ford and moderate/functional to the front end of the Chrysler. Both vehicles were southbound.
• Responded to a report of a 31-year-old Minneapolis man walking away from a group home at 1310 German St. S. at 8:24 p.m. Aug. 7. The man was arrested due to violating a DANCO (domestic abuse no contact order). A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Responded to a report of a 22-year-old Duluth man breaking plastic thermostat covers and a plastic shelf at 4:11 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Brown County Evaluation Center, 510 Front St. N. The man was placed in isolation. A report was sent to the Brown County City Attorney’s office.
• Cited a 25-year-old New Ulm man for driving after revocation, no proof of insurance and failure to transfer title on Front St. S. and Front St. N. at 9:43 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
• Received a disturbance report from the Kegel Klub, 416 19th St. N. at 12:42 a.m. Aug. 7. A 36-year-old New Ulm man will receive a trespassing letter after making threatening statements to customers.
• Took a 911 hang up call from the 1500 block, Minnesota St. N. at 10:06 p.m. Aug. 5. A 27-year-old San Diego man reported he was beaten up and was found to be injured. The responsible party was not found. A report was done for documentation.
• Received a report of a letter received by a resident for allegedly stealing gas from Kwik Trip. It was determined vehicle license plates were stolen in New Ulm. The suspect is a 37-year-old Madelia man. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
• Received a scam/fraud report from a resident at 10:26 a.m. Aug. 6 who said they received a false unemployment report in the mail. The resident reported the letter to the state employment office who filed a fraud report.
Sleepy Eye Police
• Received a verbal domestic disturbance report between a brother and sister at 805 Walnut St. S.W. at 11:24 a.m. Aug. 6. Reports were sent to Brown County Human Services and the Council Against Domestic Abuse (CADA).
Springfield Police
• Received a welfare check request at 6:47 p.m. Aug. 6. An 18-year-old male was located in Redwood falls. He was taken to a hospital for mental health issues. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.
Sibley County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a single-vehicle crash Aug. 5 on CR 8, about 1/4 mile east of State Highway 22. At 6:27 a.m., Mathiowetz Construction crews replacing a bridge at the location where CR 8 is closed, located an unoccupied 2017 Nissan Sentra in a hole where the CR 8 bridge was. It appeared the car drove around the road closed signs and into a 30-foot hole.
Prior to driving into the hole, the vehicle may have it a backhoe bucket. All vehicle airbags deployed. The car is owned by Kyle Melchert, 28, of Hutchinson. He believed the car may been stolen from his driveway. Mathiowetz Construction and Afterburner Towing removed the car from the crash location.
