New Ulm Police
• A 29-year-old New Ulm woman told police at 4:04 p.m. Friday she was approached by a man in the Walmart parking lot who offered her cash to have sex with him. The woman declined and took a photo of the man’s vehicle license plate as he drove away. A 20-year-old St. James man admitted to police he offered cash to the woman in exchange for sex. A report for consideration of prostitution-related crimes went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.
• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 9:28 p.m. Friday at 20th St. South and Valley St. Impairment was detected on the driver, a 56-year-old Nicollet man, who was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. He was cited for fourth-degree DWI. A report was done for documentation.
• A 34-year-old New Ulm woman told police at 9:06 a.m. Saturday she was being harassed online on the “Meet Me” app. The woman said the suspect threatened to harm her relatives. The woman was advised to delete the app, but declined. A report was done for documentation.
• Responded to a fight report at Rodney’s Tavern, 6 Minnesota St. South at 8:10 p.m. Saturday. A 29-year-old New Ulm man police believe was involved did not cooperate with officers. He was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center. The man’s probation officer issued an apprehension and detention order for his arrest. Witnesses told police said the other man, a 47-year-old New Ulm man, punched the other man multiple times. Since the alleged victim refused to talk to police, no charges were pursued in the matter with both men with minor injuries. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Stopped a vehicle at 1:08 a.m. Sunday at Center and Washington St. North when another vehicle drove up and began to hinder the traffic stop. A 38-year-old New Ulm man appeared to be in a state of psychosis (unable to tell what is real and what is not real). The man refused to move his vehicle from the middle of the road and refused to identify himself before he was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. The suspect was cited for obstructing the legal process and disorderly conduct. Reports went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and Brown County Probation.
• A 37-year-old New Ulm woman told police at 10:37 a.m. Sunday that on Saturday night, she and her boyfriend, a 39-year-old Sleepy Eye man, got into a physical altercation. The woman described being subject to physical and verbal abuse in the past including being held down by the man who inscribed his initial on her upper thigh. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for domestic assault charges.
• A 38-year-old New Ulm man told police at 5:14 p.m. Sunday that his wires were cut on his utility trailer on Spring St. North. Surveillance camera video did not capture the vandalism. A neighbor denied cutting the wires. A damage estimate was not available. A report was done for documentation.
• A 54-year-old New Ulm man told police at 5:50 p.m. Sunday he noticed his fence was damaged on Spring St. North. A neighbor denied damaging the fence. There was no damage estimate. A report was done for documentation.
• A 64-year-old New Ulm man told police at 6:02 p.m. Sunday that an electrical box cover was damaged in his yard on Spring St. North. The man said he saw his neighbor hit the box. The neighbor denied hitting the box. There was no damage estimate. The report is under investigation.
• Responded to a report Monday afternoon of a group home client who was intoxicated and belligerent. Police met with a 52-year-old New Ulm woman who was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center and placed in an isolation room due to her behavior. Hennepin County Probation was contacted since the alcohol consumption would be a probation violation.
