New Ulm Police
• Responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at 2101 S. Broadway at 7:10 p.m. May 25. A 2015 GMC Yukon driven by Brent R. Frederick, 46, New Ulm, was northbound on Broadway in the inside lane when a 2020 Ford Edge driven by Barbara C. Sorenson, 79, Madelia, entered the road from the stop sign, tried to cross Broadway and turn southbound on Broadway. Damage was severe to the front ends of both vehicles. Sorensen had a knee injury and head laceration. Frederick had a right wrist cut/puncture.
• Stopped a 51-year-old New Ulm man for speeding 73 mph in a 60 mph zone at Skyview Mobile Villa, Skyview Lane, off TH 68 south of New Ulm at 3:46 p.m. May 25. Police also documented illegal window tint, open alcohol containers, marijuana and vaping paraphernalia including a vaping device and cartridge. It was discovered the man is also on probation. Reports were sent to Brown County Probation and the Brown County Attorney’s Office.
McLeod County Sheriff
• Spoke with individuals in the sheriff’s office lobby about threats at 10:34 p.m. May 25. As a result, Benjamin Steinhofer, 31, Williston, N.D. was arrested for domestic assault and threats of violence and transported to the McLeod County Jail in Glencoe. Deputies cleared with reports.
State Patrol
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on TH 60 and 7th Street, Windom, at 2:34 p.m. May 25. A 2016 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Michael J. Bertrang, 57, Annandale, was westbound on TH 60 when a 1999 Honda motorcycle driven by Katherine E. Blount, 58, Mankato, exited a gas station onto Highway 60. Blount wore a helmet but was transported to Windom Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
