New Ulm Police

• Police received a scam/fraud report 3:30 p.m. Tuesday from an adult male on South Washington. The individual said a person called posing as a U.S. Marshal to obtain personal information including a social security number.

• Police received a report of attempted identity theft 2:17 p.m. Wednesday from 1600 Oak St. A person attempted to used a school employee’s information to obtain unemployment money.

Mcleod County

Sheriff’s Office

On May 2, at approximately 6:49 p.m., the Mcleod County Sheriff’s Office and Glencoe Fire Department were called to a fire near the Spruce Ridge Landfill on Lace Ave in Hassan Valley Township. Officials determined that the fire was intentionally set with an incendiary device. The Mcleod County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal continue to investigate and are asking for the public’s help with any information about the fire. A reward is being offered for information leading to the identification of the person/s responsible.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash report with non-life threatening injuries at 7:02 a.m., June 9. A 2016 Mack semi driven by Robert C. Cook, 68, Austin, was northbound on State Highway 15, entered the ditch and rolled. Cook wore a seat belt and was transported to a Hutchinson hospital. Alcohol was not involved. The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Brownton Fire Department and Hutchinson Ambulance assisted.

Sibley County

Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:34 a.m. June 9 on State Highway 15, south of 310th Street, three miles south of Winthrop in Alfsborg Township. A 2004 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Kristopher Hipp, 31, Young America, was southbound on Highway 15, left the road, entered the west ditch, hit a field approach and came to a rest in a wooded area. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Vehicle damage was heavy. The Winthrop Fire Department and Ambulance Service assisted.

• Responded to an ATV crash on on 8th Avenue near 2nd Street in New Auburn at 3:53 p.m. June 6. Reid Edman, 61, New Auburn, was transported to a local hospital with injuries. He was suspected of operating the ATV in a careless manner that contributed to the crash, according to a Sibley County Sheriff’s Deputy who investigated the crash. The New Auburn Fire Department and Ridgeveiw Ambulance assisted.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on 216th Street near 391st Avenue in Green Isle Township at 3:15 p.m. June 6. Caleb Sharpe, 17, Arlington was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, lost control on gravel and rolled once. He wore a seat belt and was not injured.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 5 near 226th Street at 9:40 a.m. June 6. A 2007 Ford F-150 driven by Jackson Rose, 22, was northbound on Highway 5, pulled onto the shoulder to turn right on 226th Street, re-entered the northbound lane and collided with a 2014 Peterbuilt semi driven by Charles Dietzel, 51, Cologne. Neither driver was injured. The Arlington Fire Department and Arlington Ambulance responded to the scene.
