New Ulm Police

Police responded to a vehicle accident at 7:46 p.m. Sunday. A 2005 Dodge Caravan, driven by Howard Leo Kastner, 56, of New Ulm was traveling north on Garden Street. The driver reported falling asleep and striking the light pole near the intersection of 13th North and two mailboxes at 1225 and 1227 N. Garden before hitting the pole. Kastner was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with a possible head injury.

State Patrol

The State Patrol responded to an accident at 7:41 a.m. Monday on Highway 4 and Country Road 10. A 1999 Peterbilt semi truck and trailer were northbound on Highway 4. The truck driver lost control and went into the ditch, and the truck rolled over onto its side. The driver was a 50-year-old man from Whitewood, South Dakota. His name was not released by press time.

Nicollet Sheriff

The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Monday, Oct. 7, of a burglary that had taken place on the 900 block of 4th Street in Nicollet. The homeowner reported that money and a shotgun were taken from the residence.

On Oct. 17, Patrick Vincent Pitts, Jr., Mankato, was arrested in for the burglary. Pitts has been charged in Nicollet County with felony theft, felony second-degree burglary and two counts of misdemeanor theft.
