Commissioners consider jail control system update
To replace control panels with touch screen controls
NEW ULM — Brown County Commissioners will consider approving a $115,450 proposal from Cornerstone of Greenville, Wi. to replace Lexan graphic control panels with touchscreen controls for jail control Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The current jail control system was installed in 1994 during law enforcement center/jail construction. Earlier this year, jail electronics and an updated personal computer were installed.
The second phase is to update jail control panels to touch screen controls. The existing panels are showing their age and new replacement parts are obsolete. Touch screen controls would improve sytem operation function and diagnostics.
The purchase would include 12 hours of training on new system functionality by two technicians over a three-week period.
If purchased in 2023, the cost could be removed from the 2024 budget.
The board meeting begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 1 in the courthouse commissioner’s room.
