Flat track races draw a crowd

NEW ULM — Motorcycle racers young and old came from the upper midwest for the Flying Dutchmen Flat Track Races at the club grounds Saturday and Sunday.

New Ulm dominated the 50cc DTC Peewee class with six contestants Saturday and Sunday. Brody Stadick and Raymond Schwab finished one-two both days. Everett Gitter was sixth on Saturday and fourth on Sunday. Jacob Howk, Vienna Gitter and Dominick Schwab also raced.

Many racers and their families camped at the club grounds for free over the weekend.

Eric Dietz of Madelia won Maddog Max Saturday and was runner-up Sunday.

Jack Freeman of New Ulm was Hooligan race runner-up Saturday and took third Sunday. Adam Reinhart of Courtland was ninth Saturday and 12th Sunday. Randy Braulick of New Ulm was ninth Sunday.

Charlie Dietz of Madelia won the girls race both days. Larry Sparks of Lake Crystal was fourth in Master 60 races both days.

Everett Gitter won the 50cc DTX Chain Jr. Saturday and was second Sunday. Jared Giter won the Vet 30+ Saturday. Marcel Hofmann was fourth Saturday and fifth Sunday. Philip Gulden was ninth Sunday.

Aubrey Blackstad of New Ulm was second in Schoolboy Sunday and third Saturday. Vaughn Smith of New Ulm was fourth Saturday in Schoolboy and fifth in Supermini. Jaxson Reinhart of Courtland was sixth Saturday.

Brody Stadick and Ray Schwab were one-two in 50cc DTX Chain Sr. Sunday. David Liensenfeld of New Ulm won 125cc Saturday.

In 450, Jack Freeman was second Saturday and third Sunday. Jared Gitter was fourth Saturday and Sunday.

The hillclimb is set for Saturday. Aug. 27.
