MANKATO — The Minnesota Department of Transportation hosts a public open house Tuesday, May 5 for roundabout projects planned this summer on the Fort Road.

The open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lafayette Township Hall, 57738 Fort Road in Klossner. There will be no formal presentation. Staff from the highway department and contractor will be available to answer questions about the project, construction timelines, and detour routes.

Single-lane roundabouts will be built at the intersection of State Highway 15 and the Fort Road in Klossner and Highway 111 and the Fort Road north of Nicollet.

Roundabout funding was awarded from the High Risk Rural Roads program to improve safety at rural highway intersections.

Preliminary tree clearing is expected to begin in early May. Construction is expected to begin in mid-May with detoured traffic during construction.
