Commissioners to consider updated bridge priority list

CSAH 8 bridge project proposed for 2022

NEW ULM — Brown County commissioners will review and consider approving an updated bridge priority list at their meeting Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The list includes structurally deficient bridges or those requested to be replaced by townships. Bridges on the list are eligible for bridge bond funds.

Brown County bridges on the proposed 2022 project list and total project costs are CSAH 8 $3.16 million, CSAH 7 $200,000, and a 200th St. Sigel Township culvert, $140,000.

The CSAH 8 bridge project includes $2 million in federal funds and $800,000 in township or state bridge funds.

New bridges listed are 6536 CSAH 5, 973 370th Ave.-Bashaw Township, 08504 CSAH 3 and a Sigel Township culvert with a 10 foot wide replacement.

Commissioners will also consider:

• Approving a tree removal quote for the CSAH 8 – Bridge 2110 project due to a realignment of CSAH 8 to the new bridge location.

Quotes are Southern MN Tree Service $2,990; Zinniel Tree Service $6,125; Carr’s Tree Service $7,500; Belek Tree Service $8,028; and Northbound Tree Service $17,654.40.

To prevent the harming of a threatened species, the northern long-eared bat, it is required to complete all tree cutting activities before April 1.

Renville County has cleared its portion along the north side of the Minnesota River.

• Accept Judy Kunkel’s petition to outlet into County Ditch (CD) 28, appoint viewers, and ensure all costs in the proceedings are paid by the petitioner. Kunkel seeks authority to use CD28 as a drainage outlet.

• Set 2022 spring road restrictions. Postings usually begin in late February or early March. A proposed change in spring road restrictions is CSAH 34 from TH 4 to Windsor Road in Sleepy Eye to 10 ton. No other changes are recommended.

The board meeting begins at 9 a.m., Feb. 1 in the courthouse commissioner’s room.
