A glowing holiday tradition returns

Staff photos by Clay Schuldt The 2021 Parade of Light ended with an appearance from Santa Claus. Claus reminded the children they had 28 days to write their Christmas wish list.

NEW ULM — The annual Parade of Lights returned to Minnesota Street, Friday.

This was the first Parade of Lights held in two years. The event was canceled last year, due to low participation. This year more than enough floats participated registered for the parade. Hundreds of spectators gathered along Minnesota Street to watch the parade. After missing last years parade, many were eager to celebrate the its return. The weather also cooperated with the parade. The temperature was just above freezing when the parade started, with no wind. The 2021 Parade of Light was one of the warmer holiday parade in years.
