The New Ulm Fire Department responded to a garage fire shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, at the corner of 1st North and North Washington Streets.

New Ulm firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes of receiving the call. No one was injured from the fire, and the flames were contained to only the garage. The cause of the fire is believed to be a cigarette.
