MN EIS re-opens downtown
NEW ULM — Ice cream and sweets lovers beat a path to MN EIS Friday as the store re-opened at 10 Minnesota St. N.
The shop offers 24 ice cream flavors that rotate, including edible cookie dough, plus 30 candy varieties including sea salt caramel. Other homemade treats on rotation include fudge, cookies, cupcakes, and more.
Ice cream is served in homemade waffle cones and in two sizes of cups.
Menu items include “spaghetti ice,” a German sundae that looks like spaghetti, but includes ice cream with strawberry topping and white chocolate flakes.
Co-owner Lindsay Schweiss of New Ulm opened the store briefly last year, only to be shut down due to pandemic executive orders from Gov. Tim Walz.
This year, the store opened for Mother’s Day weekend and featured fresh flowers from local florist/decorator T & K Events, then closed until Friday.
“Our first season was definitely a whirlwind,” Schweiss said. “We felt so blessed to be welcomed into the downtown community. We really felt the support of New Ulm and the surrounding area.”
“We’re excited to be open again this year,” Schweiss said. “We hope to do a number of events soon like wedding receptions, company and birthday parties and other things.”
Spring store hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. Sundays.
