NEW ULM — Traffic in New Ulm Friday evening never looked better. A Car Cruise that began in the former Target parking lot, traveled north to the Law Enforcement Center, to the New Ulm Medical Center and the New Ulm Fire Departments.

This was the fifth cruise event held in New Ulm since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The cruise was led by Bryce Boelter in his red Mustang.

Boelter said the first cruise only had five cars, but each time it has grown in popularity. The latest cruise featured over 60 vehicles, some of the drivers were from out of town coming from Savage or Redwing. Boelter even heard one couple was coming from Faribault just to watch the cars drive by.

The Narren made an appearance at the Cruise night. Since they always where mask, the Narren took to putting masks on car bumpers to promote safety.

Groups of spectators gathered along South Broadway to watch the line of vehicles drive by. Seeing the different vehicles was an exciting safe way to spend Friday.

“If we can make people happy with our cars this is worth it,” Boelter said.

This was the first cruise announced since the 2020 New Ulm Autofest was officially canceled. The Autofest is typically held in June but was canceled for the health and safety of the participants. The New Ulm Autofest Club is now partnering with Boelter to spread the word about the Friday night cruises.
