Brown County District Court

• A gross misdemeanor motor vehicle registration-intent to escape tax charge was filed Oct. 10, 2023 against Howard Paul Domeier, 59, 20988 State Highway 15, New Ulm. A first appearance was set for 8:30 a.m., Nov. 14, 2023.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Officer Christina Wright observed a green 2005 Ford Freestyle traveling eastbound on Cottonwood Street, approaching a stop sign at Bridge and Cottonwood Street without illuminated driver’s-side taillight and brake lights on Aug. 15, 2023. Officer Wright stopped the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Domeier.

Running the vehicle license plate, it came back flagged for registration status expired in 2021 although the license plate had two 2023 registration stickers with different sticker numbers.

Domeier admitted the registration sticks came from two of his motorcycles that he stuck on the vehicle.

Brown County ran the 2023 registration stickers. One came back to a scooter registered to T.D. The other ame back to a 1999 Harley Davidson cruiser registered to Domeier.

• A felony 5th-degree drug possession-not small amount marijuana charge was filed Oct. 19, 2023 against Brandon Lee Singlaterry, 22, 1219 S. Jefferson St., New Ulm. A first appearance was set for 8:30 a.m., Nov. 14, 2023.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police Officer Mathew Rasmussen responded to 807 N. Valley St. where a Department of Corrections agent was competing an apprehension and detention order on Singlaterry for possession and consumption of controlled substances not prescribed to him.

Prior to officer Rasmussen’s arrival, a Brown County Probation agent was doing a compliance check with Singlaterry when he tried to hide a pill bottle in a pocket of his shorts and denied doing so.

An agent inspected a bottle removed from the pocket and saw it was labeled “Quietiapine” but pills in the bottle did not match the label description. The pills were blue and rectangular with a B707 imprint, identified as Xanax (Alprazolam) using a pill identifier.

Singlaterry’s DOC agent indicated Singlaterry had no current Xanax prescription. The Brown County agent counted 62 pills in the bottle and Singlaterry was taken into custody.
