The November term of the district court, will be convened by Judge I.M. Olsen Monday morning at 11 o’clock, when the members of the grand jury are summoned to appear. At that time the jury will be charged, and its members will enter upon the deliberation of matters, which come under its purview. Five parties have been bound over to the district court by reason of infraction of the prohibition laws. They are, Peter Loesch, New Ulm, and Jos. Laux, Mulligan township, charged with selling liquor, and Paul Gutknecht and Rich. Raddatz, Linden township, and Wm. Cook, Mulligan township, charged with the manufacture of “moon.”Mns. Bessie Wynn of Eden township was bound over to the district court on a charge of shooting at Wm. Roberts, who in company with Ed. F. Berkner, are said to have been taking melons from her patch, located on one of the Berkner farms.
Three criminal cases remain on the calendar. The first is that of Jos. Puchner, charged with the murder of Sister Ermina at the St. Alexander Home for the Aged in January. Puchner is in the insane asylum at St.Peter. The indictment will in all probability be permitted to stand.George Cook, who is serving a sentence for subornation of perjury of Conrad Weiss, was also indicted on the same charge in connection with Isidor Sellner. It is anticipated that this latter indictment will be dismissed. An indictment against Mike Meisinger still remains. He is charged with desertion of children. At the last term of court he plead guilty and was sentenced. The sentence was suspended upon certain conditions. It is anticipated that the indictment will be dismissed at the coming term, if the order of the court has been complied with.
Seven Cases Continued
There are seven civil actions continued from the May term of the district court. The remainder of the fifty cases listed on the docket, are new ones. There are the usual run of civil actions, and it is not anticipated that the term will be a lengthy one.
Petit Jury Summoned
The members of the petit jury are summoned to appear on Monday, November 30 at 10 o’clock. This is a week following the time of the summoning of the grand jury, but an hour earlier in the morning.
