MLC’s Wenz, Kieselhorst earn All-UMAC basketball honors

PAUL — The 2025-26 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference women’s basketball All-Conference awards were officially released on Tuesday, and the Martin Luther College Knights had two players given the distinction. Wilhelmina Wenz was named First Team All-UMAC after making a big leap in production from a season ago. The sophomore entered the starting lineup this season and led the UMAC in rebounds per game by a wide margin (10.2 rpg). The Big South Conference released its All-Conference Dance Team, with four New Ulm Eagles being recognized. On the High Kick All-Conference team from New Ulm was Ty-lee Haefner-Richardson, while Addison Buysse earned an Honorable Mention. On the Jazz All-Conference Team from New Ulm was Jocelyn Hernandez, while Bryn Fortwengler was named Honorable Mention.

NUA cleans up BSC wrestling honors

The Big South Conference released its All-Conference Wrestling Team, with 10 New Ulm Area wrestlers represented. Chase Wilson, Regan Johnson, Alex Portner, Kane Johnson, Tegan Kral, Elijah Rieser, Lane Ruch, Candon Briggs, Ellie Dake and Karli Horner were all selected to the team from NUA. The Eagles won the conference this year and had the most wrestlers represented in the all-conference team.

Cedar Mountain boys fall to Jaguars in playoffs

GRANADA — The No. 17-seeded Cedar Mountain boys basketball team fell 72-62 to 16th-seeded Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday in the first round of the Section 2A boys basketball playoffs. The loss ended the Cougars’ season with a 5-21 mark, while the Jaguars advance to play No. 1-seeded Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Tuesday.
