Madelia girls basketball team earns 1st win of season

MADELIA — The Madelia girls basketball team got over the hump Tuesday and into the win column with a 69-21 nonconference win over the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. Alicia Lugo led the Blackhawks in the win with 17 points, while Adrianne Missling had 13 points and Grace Tatro had 10. Kendra Kirchner added 8 points for Madelia, while Hadley Hitchcock had 6 points and Emmy Johnson had 5 points. Madelia (1-25) travels to Sleepy Eye to take on No. 1-seeded Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s for the first round of the Section 2A playoffs on Monday.
