NORTH MANKATO — The Springfield girls golf team held a 23-stroke lead over Sleepy Eye United on Day 1 of the Section 2A Girls Golf Tournament on Thursday at North Links Golf Course. Springfield finished first Thursday with a 377, while SEU was second (400), Mountain Lake was third (414) and Alden-Conger was fourth (430). GAYLORD — The Sibley East Wolverines got a strong outing from pitcher Nathan Schauer on Thursday, but the Waseca Bluejays countered that with one from Owen Honstad as they earned a 2-1 win to eliminate the Wolverines from the Section 2AA Baseball Tournament. NEW ULM — In just her third season as head coach of the Sartell Sabres softball team, Karlee Pfaff has guided her team to a berth in the Class AAA State Softball Tournament.
