Minnesota State men roll to Final Four

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Minnesota State Mavericks left no room for doubt Tuesday night, rolling to a 98-70 win over Ferris State in an NCAA Division II men’s basketball Elite Eight game at Ford Center.

The top-seeded Mavericks (33-2) held a convincing 51-32 halftime lead over the Bulldogs (28-8), whose last lead of the game was 8-7 with less than 16 minutes to go in the first half.

The Willingham brothers led the Mavericks in the win, with Kyreese Willingham leading the way with a game-high 25 points on 10 of 13 shooting. Malik Willingham added 21 points, while Elijah Hazekamp had 14 points and six rebounds and Justin Eagins added 8 points and five assists.

DeSean Munson led the Bulldogs with 11 points, while Deng Reng added 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Mavericks move on to the Final Four next at 3:30 p.m. Thursday back at Ford Center.
