LAMBERTON — Wabasso swept Red Rock Central 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 in a nonconference volleyball game Friday.

Alivia Olson had nine kills for Wabasso, while Camryn Irlbeck had five kills. Audrey Johnson had nine digs, while Sara Carlson had 20 set assists and five digs while Leah Mathiowetz had 15 set assists.

Wabasso (14-6) travels to Springfield on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Belle Plaine 7, New Ulm 0

BELLE PLAINE — Belle Plaine swept New Ulm 7-0 in a Big South Conference girls tennis match on Friday.

New Ulm had a chance to win No. 1 doubles with Karlee Prahl and Joci Pettersoen with a 7-5, 4-6 start, but lost by injury default.

New Ulm starts section playoffs next week.

PREP FOOTBALL

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s game against Mayer Lutheran on Friday night was postponed due to weather and field conditions. It will be played at 11 a.m. Saturday in Norwood Young America. Also on Friday night, Pipestone Area defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 34-16. No stats were available at the time this edition of The Journal went to print.
