GFW 3, MCW 2

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop held off Martin County West in five sets of nonconference volleyball action on Monday night, winning 17-25, 25-22, 25-18, 14-25, 15-13.

The Thunderbirds were led by Marti Jacobson’s nine kills, while Trinity Stearns and Halle Bleick each had eight kills. Brynn Busse had 19 set assists and 19 digs also for GFW, while Katelyn Beranek had 10 set assists, Taylor Haas had 20 digs and Bleick added 11 digs. Taylor Schafer also had two aces for GFW.

GFW (2-2) travels to Minnesota Valley Lutheran for a Tomahawk Conference match at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Madelia 3, Maple River 1

MADELIA — Madelia defeated Maple River 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15 on Monday in a nonconference volleyball match.

The Blackhawks were led by Katherine DeVlaeminck’s 10 kills, while Brooke Lensing had nine kills and three aces and Ashlynn Sweet had eight kills, two blocks and two aces. Ashley Sorenson had 32 set assists also for Madelia, while Jada Taylor had 16 digs and Alexis Jacques had 12 digs.

Madelia is now 2-3 on the year and hosts Martin County West on Tuesday night.

LSH 3, Sibley East 1

ARLINGTON — LeSueur-Henderson topped Sibley East 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21 on Monday in nonconference volleyball action.

Karcyn Dose had 13 kills to lead Sibley East, while Jessica Wolter had 10 kills, Elizabeth Sell had seven kills and Anna Harens had 21 set assists.

Sibley East (1-3) is at Mayer Lutheran on Thursday.
