Backer named finalist as Freshman of the Year
NEW ULM — Maddie Backer, a freshman from New Ulm, is one of three finalists at Central College at Pella, Iowa, for the Freshman Female Athlete of the Year.
Backer finished as runner-up for the Freshman Athlete of the Year in the American Rivers Conference.
The award winner is announced later in the spring.
