ST. CLAIR — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated St. Clair 8-0 and 7-6 in six innings in a South Central Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

Game 2 was called after six innings due to darkness.

Kurt Trahms earned the win for MVL in Game 1, striking out eight while allowing just one hit in a complete game. At the plate, Blake Sexton was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Conner Bode was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Aiden Weisensell had a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Gavin Pribbenow got the win in Game 2, striking out six while allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits in three innings. Kyan Kube made the start and struck out four while allowing two runs on one hit in three innings. At the plate, Rogan Scriver had a hit and two RBIs, while Bode had a double and two runs scored. Sexton had a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Kube had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

MVL (2-3, 2-1) plays at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Friday.

SLEEPY EYE 5, WABASSO 1

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Wabasso 5-1 in a Tomahawk Division baseball game on Tuesday.

Kaden Klein got the complete-game win for the Indians, striking out four while allowing one run on one hit. At the plate, Klein, Karter Haala, Hayden Domeier and Jacob Fulmer each had a hit and an RBI, while Carson Uecker had a hit and two runs scored.

Jack Burns took the loss for Wabasso, striking out four while allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits in five innings. At the plate, Zach Skoblik was 2 for 3 with a home run.

Sleepy Eye (4-1, 3-1) hosts a doubleheader against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday, while Wabasso (1-2, 0-1) hosts a doubleheader against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday.

SIBLEY EAST 6, LSH 1

ARLINGTON — Sibley East defeated Le Sueur-Henderson 6-1 in a South Central Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

Nathan Schauer earned the win for the Wolverines, striking out six while allowing one unearned run on four hits in six innings. At the plate, Carson Schmidt had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored, while Landon Friederichs had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Riley Edblom added a hit and an RBI.

PREP TRACK AND FIELD

MVL/NUC GIRLS TAKE THIRD IN WASECA

WASECA — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral girls track and field team placed third out of seven teams at a prep track and field meet on Tuesday.

The MVL/NUC boys took fifth, while the New Ulm boys and girls teams both placed sixth. Fairmont won the boys side of the meet, while St. Peter won the girls side.

For the MVL girls, Emily Brown placed third in the 100-meter dash (13.39), while Natalie Matzke placed second in the 1,600m (5:45.64). Kamryn Davey (16.62) and Avery Freier (16.89) took third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles, while Brown took second (49.56) and Freier placed fourth (50.36) in the 300-meter hurdles. Avery Hahn placed fifth in shot put (30-10) and Mollie Berdan tied for first in pole vault (7-0), while Davey won the triple jump (34-4.75), with Olivia Hammer coming in fifth (33-8.25).

For the MVL/NUC boys, Ben Riesgraf took third in the 100m (11.57), while John Hoffman placed fifth in the 200m (23.88). Jeremy Feistner placed fifth in the 1,600m (4:57.13) and Max Fischer finished third in the 3,200m (11:00.29). Tucker Kohls (17.13) and Oliver Schuch (17.13) took third and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, and Emmauel Edwards finished second in the shot put (43-2) and third in discus (138-7). Riesgraf placed third in long jump (19-0.75).

For the New Ulm girls, Ellie Dake won the shot put (32-06) and took fifth in discus (84-04). Jesalyn Skoglund finished third in the high jump (4-08). For the boys, George Gag placed second in the 200m (23.16) and fifth in high jump (5-06), while Michael Hames won the 400m (53.08). Josh Gordon placed fifth in pole vault (10-06), and Jayden Broste placed fifth in triple jump (37-1.75).
