Ethan Schmidt out of New Ulm competed in a U.S Kids Golf Tournament Sunday, July 10, in Cambridge, Minnesota, at Purple Hawk Country Club. Playing out of the Minneapolis Local Tour in the 9-year-old group, Schmidt made an eagle on the final hole to tie for second place, shooting a +2 (38) and finishing two shots off the lead.

Schmidt also had a Minnesota Jr Golf event Tuesday, July 12, at the New Ulm Country Club. Competing in the 10-to-12-year old group, Schmidt took 4th place shooting +7 (43) on the day. Nolan Kucera of Sleepy Eye tied for second, shooting a +5 (41).
