BELLE PLAINE — New Ulm’s Colton Benson led the way with 28 points as the Eagles defeated Belle Plaine in a nonconference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.

Charlie Osborne had 24 points and James Osborne had 20 points for the Eagles.

GFW 46, Sleepy Eye 35

SLEEPY EYE — Dominic Rose scored 13 points as Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game on Tuesday.

Erizen Traconis led Sleepy Eye with 11 points.

Madelia 79, A-C 66

ALDEN — Ja’Sean Glover scored 44 points, had 13 rebounds and four assists as Madelia defeated Alden-Conger in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game on Tuesday.

Blake Altenburg had 21 points, including five 3-pointers, and six assists. Armando Zamoria had eight assists and four steals.

Madelia (9-8) is at Truman.

Girls’ basketball

Sleepy Eye 49, GFW 39

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye topped Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 49-39 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

The Indians were led by Brea Mertz’s 21 points, six rebounds and four blocks, while Kaydince Thoms had 9 points and four rebounds. Kadence Hesse added 7 points and 10 rebounds for Sleepy Eye, while Jazzibelle Martinez had 7 points and five assists.

No stats were reported for GFW.

Cathedral 43, Loyola 36

MANKATO — New Ulm Cathedral defeated Mankato Loyola in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Maddie Gillis had 14 points for Cathedral and Emily Schommer scored 12 points. Jenna Hotovec scored 7 points.

Cathedral is at Madelia on Thursday.

St. Mary’s 73, BLHS 47

HECTOR — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s downed Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 73-47 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

The Knights were led by Madison Mathiowetz’s 39 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Also for the Knights, Reagan Severson had 10 points, Allie Labat had 7 points and six rebounds and Katelyn Rutscher had 7 points, four rebounds and three steals.

BLHS was led by Rachel Kottke and Kristi Kottke, who each had 10 points.

Madelia 50,

Immanuel Lutheran 43

MADELIA — Madelia topped Immanuel Lutheran 50-43 on Tuesday night in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Madelia was led by Katherine DeVlaeminck’s 17 points, while Victoria Hemingsen added 12.

Immanuel Lutheran was led by Gabi Radichel’s 13 points.
