St. Mary’s 3, BLHS 0

SLEEPY EYE — No. 2-seeded Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s remained unbeaten on the season by sweeping No. 7-seeded Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 on Thursday in Section 2A, North Subsection playoff volleyball action.

In the win, Knights setter Allie Labat got her 1,000th career set assist and ended the match with 13 set assists. Madison Mathiowetz led the Knights with 18 kills, 19 digs and two blocks, while Bella Hoffmann had 23 set assists, 10 digs and five aces.

Also for the Knights, Julia Helget had six kills and 12 digs, Abbie Schwartz had four kills and four digs, Katelyn Rutscher had four kills and nine digs. Reagan Severson had 11 digs and three kills also for St. Mary’s.

The Knights (26-0) will now play third-seeded BOLD at 8 p.m. on Monday at Sibley East as playoffs resume.

BOLD 3, GFW 0

BIRD ISLAND — Third-seeded BOLD swept sixth-seeded Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday in

Section 2A, North Subsection playoff volleyball action.

Julia Schweiss led the Thunderbirds with five kills, while Brynn Busse had six set assists and two blocks. Halle Bleick added seven digs for GFW, while Taylor Haas had six digs.

GFW ends its season with a 12-13 record.

NYA 3, Sibley East 1

ARLINGTON — Fifth-seeded Norwood-Young America upset fourth-seeded Sibley East 13-25, 25-22, 25-17, 26-24 on Thursday in a Section 2AA, North Subsection first-round playoff volleyball match.

Jennifer Wolter led the Wolverines with 18 kills, while Jessica Wolter had 12 kills and three blocks. Morgan Halquist added 25 digs and six kills, while Molly Krentz had 11 kills and 10 digs. Also for Sibley East, Eleanor Kreft had 23 set assists and eight digs, while Adeline Williams had 20 set assists and 10 digs and Katrina Diaz had 16 digs.

Sibley East finishes the season with an 18-9 record.
