Tomahawk Conference names Co-Players of the Year in baseball

The Tomahawk Conference named New Ulm Cathedral’s Sam Knowles and Wabasso’s Carter Benz Co-Players of the Year on Thursday.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran head coach Jim Buboltz was named the conference’s Coach of the Year.

Players making the All-Conference Team this year were all unanimous picks. MVL saw Leyton Brau, Caleb Carlovsky and Josh Giefer make the team, while Cathedral had Sam Knowles, Noah Wilmes and Isaiah Rieser chosen. Wabasso had Benz, Will Carlson and Ty Altermatt selected, while Springfield had Mason Leonard, Tori Helget and Jacob Nachreiner chosen to the team.

Sleepy Eye Public had Jackson Huiras and Carson Domeier named to the team, while Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s had Spencer Hoffman selected.

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart had Nicholas Taylor selected to the team, while Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop saw Dominic Johnson chosen.

Honorable mentions were as followed: Cole Thompson (MVL), Jacob Berg (NUC), Matthew Evink (Wabasso), Adryen Tietz (Wabasso), Brendon Buerkle (Springfield), Mason Sellner (SEPS), Arian Saenz (SEPS), Joey Herzog (SESM), Patrick Hoffmann (SESM), Braden McColley (BLHS) and Cale Luthens (BLHS).
