Wabasso picks up two wins

Wabasso 4, MVL 1
Wabasso 11, Edgerton 4
WABASSO — Wabasso went 2-0 on Friday in prep baseball action.
In the first game, the Rabbits defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in a Tomahawk Conference baseball game.
The loss dropped MVL’s conference record to 11-3 and 13-5 overall with no conference games remaining. Wabasso improved to 9-3 in the conference (12-4 overall) and it hosts Buffalo Lake Hector-Stewart on Monday and travel to New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday (10-3 in conference play) to conclude the conference portion of the schedule.
Madelia 9, MLA-C 8, 8 innings
MOUNTAIN LAKE — Madelia defeated Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey in a nonconference baseball game on Friday.
Elijah McCabe was 3 for 5 with two RBIs for Madelia and Dylan Grev was 2 for 3. Eric Anderson was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and Kaden Johnson was 2 for 3. Jacob Peterson also went 2 for 3.
Madelia hosts Cleveland on Tuesday.
Prep softball
St. Mary’s 14, MLA-C 1
MOUNTAIN LAKE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s crushed Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey in a noncoference softball game on Friday.
Julia Helget earned the win, striking out seven and walking one. Helget also went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple and Kallie Zarn also went 3 for 3. Sydney Windschitl, Allie Labat and Lacey Mathiowetz each had one hit for the Knights.
Alana Morey and Brooke Naas shared the pitching duties for the Wolverines. They struck out three and walked three. Kayleigh Schumann, Kaylie Baerg, and Annika Brinkman each had a hit.
