Brewers down Lamberton

NEW ULM — Mitch Bockenstedt pitched 5 1/3 innings of no-hit ball and the New Ulm Brewers used a pair of three run innings as they downed Lamberton 7-1 Sunday afternoon in a non-league, seven-inning game at Johnson Park.

Bockenstedt struck out nine and allowed just one hit — a one out single by Neil Eichten in the fifth inning.

The only run scored by Lamberton came in the seventh inning on a hit batsman, a wild pitch and an outfield error on the potential third out of the game.

Corey Schaefer led the New Ulm attack with three hits with Andrew Peters and Braden Zimmerman each adding two hits. Peters had a solo home run and a double with Zimmerman also adding a double.

Brady Bierl took the pitching loss for Lamberton going three innings and giving up six runs.

The Brewers, who host Milroy Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Park scored three runs in the first inning on singles from Judd Davis, Colton Schaefer and Zimmerman. A Josh Seidl groundout scored a run before Corey Schaefer singled in two more runs.

New Ulm plated three more runs in the third inning when Andrew Peters led off the inning with a solo home run to right field. Zimmerman doubled and Seidl singled. A Corey Schaefer RBI single made it 5-0. A Mitch Bockenstedt groundout added another run.

A Peters RBI double in the fourth plated New Ulm’s final run of the game.

On Saturday the Brewers downed Leavenworth 3-1 in a seven inning non-league game.

Adam Slander got the win for the Brewers. He went six innings and allowed only a first inning run that came on back-to-back doubles from Jayden Mickelson and Jevan Richert.He struck out four.

Nick Fischer had a double for the Brewers.
