Springfield/CM wins MVL Cross Country meets

NEW ULM — Springfield/Cedar Mountain took first place in the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Invitational Cross Country meet on Thursday at MVL.

In the girl’s race, Grace Moeller of LCWM/Nicollet took first place with at time of 19:55, but SCM’s Lilly McCone (20:13), Emmie McCone (21:47) and Skyla Dauer (22:02) took second, third and fourth, pacing SCM to 25 points. LCWM/Nicollet was second with 35, and MVL was third with 74 points.

MVL was led by Naomi Anderson, who finished 8th with a time of 23:51, Anna Van Riesen, 14th (25:35), and Caitlyn Otto, 16th (25:47).

In the boys race, Christian Falls of LCWM/Nicollet was first at 18:48, but Ben Potter (19:08), Zack Hensch (19:15) and Brayden Sturm (19:22) of SCM took second, third and fourth, giving SCM a 27-point first place team finish. LCWM finished second with 32 points, and MVL was third with 77. For MVL, Mitchell Ulrich finished seventh with a time of 19:40. Josiah Guenther finished 16th (20:52) and Donovan Witte was 18th (20:56).

GFW, SE/SM/NUC win

WABASSO — Wabasso hosted the Tomahawk Conference Cross Country meet on Thursday. GFW won the girl’s race, while Sleepy Eye/St. Mary’s/New Ulm Cathedral won the boy’s race.

In the girl’s race, Grace Feder of GFW finished first with a time of 19:04. Clare Fischer of SE/SM/NUC was second at 19:06 and Sarah Franta of Wabasso was third at 21:04.

GFW took the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th places, along with 9th and 10th for 26 team points. Wabasso took 3rd, 5th, 11th, 12th and 13th for 44 team points and a second place finish. SE/SM/NUC finished 2nd, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th for 76 points and a third place finish.

In the boys race, Joshua Hagen of SE/SM/NUC took first in the race with a time of 17:46. Nate Fliszar of SU/SM/NUC was second at 18:08, and Even Elder of GFW was third with a time of 18:43.

SE/SM/NUC took 1st, ends, 4th, 7th and 10th for 24 team points. Wabasso finished second with 42 points (5th, 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th) and GFW finished third with 64 points (3rd, 9th, 15th, 18th and 19th).
