• Mathiowetz had a strong first two games of the girls’ basketball season over the weekend, leading the Knights to a pair of wins at the St. Mary’s Tip-Off Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Knights got a 59-41 win over Adrian/Ellsworth on Friday night and an 80-38 win over Cleveland on Saturday afternoon.

• Mathiowetz scored 28 points and had five rebounds in the win over Adrian/Ellsworth and she continued to find success the next day, wracking up 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

• “Whatever we need to [do] to get the win is ultimately what we need,” Mathiowetz said after Saturday’s win. “No matter who scores and what we do, we’ve just got to expand our game and get better as the season continues.”
