NEW ULM — For Team 13 on Monday, teamwork seemed to be the perfect word to best describe the team’s victory at the B&L Golf Classic at New Ulm Country Club.

The squad of Terry O’Donnell, Rick Hulke, Terry Steinbach, Jim Schuetzle and Denny Warta took first overall with a team score of 127, one stroke better than the second-place Team 7A (128).

It was the first time winning a championship at the B&L Golf Classic for O’Donnell.

“Everybody played well,” O’Donnell said. “If somebody hit a bad shot, then somebody else had a really good shot. We covered for each other all day.”

The tournament featured better conditions than it did on Sunday for the B&L mixer.

“It was a little bit better than [Sunday], it was a little rainy but today was good,” O’Donnell said.

Team 7A, which featured Pete Guggisberg, Ken Paa, Bernie Lacher, Tom Schaefer and Paul Roberts finished second and Team 8, which featured Mike Krueger, Jim Otto, Mike Bode, Ron Schmitz and Peter Macho took third overall with a team score of 131.

Finishing in fourth place with a 132 was the team of Dan Janke, Larry Hildebrandt, Mert Gustad, Dave Christiansen and Kevin Bassett.

Team 9 finished fifth with a 132. That team included Randy Paa, Dave Hansen, Gene Voges, Ted Skillings and Adam Slander and the sixth place team of Jackson Ahlness, Dick Price, Tony Sowder, Randy Wiltscheck, Todgeo Meinert finished with a 133.

Team 7B, made up of Kevin Atnip, Tom Jensen, Rick Jensen, John Rieger and Rollo Lentz finished with a 134.
