Prep roundup: Madelia’s Logan Anderson fans 14 in Game 1 of doubleheader with BLHS

LAKE CRYSTAL — Madelia split a nonconference baseball doubleheader with Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Saturday, with Madelia picking up a 2-1 five-inning win in Game 1 and BLHS picking up an 11-9 five-inning win in Game 2.

In Game 1, Logan Anderson dominated on the mount, picking up the win after striking out 14 batters in five innings and allowing one unearned run on one hit. Tyler Schwanke had an RBI and a hit for Madelia, while Jordan Koberoski added an RBI.

Dylan Maiers took the loss for BLHS in Game 1, allowing one earned run with seven strikeouts. Cale Luthens drove in a run with BLHS’s lone hit.

In Game 2, Madelia was led by Anderson’s two hits and four RBIs, while Jed Altenburg had two hits and an RBI.

Ben Dornseif got the win in Game 2 for BLHS, giving up eight earned runs on nine hits and five walks. He struck out five.

Elijah Stifter went 4 for 4 in Game 2 for the Mustangs in Game 2 for the Mustangs, while Nathan Schultz went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Caden Homan went 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs. Luthens added two hits and an RBI in Game 2.

Madelia is at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Tuesday.

Cleveland 4, Nicollet 3,

Randolph 14, Nicollet 1

CLEVELAND — The Nicollet baseball team dropped a pair of games at the Cleveland Invitational on Saturday, falling 4-3 in eight innings to Cleveland in Game 1 before dropping Game 2 to Randolph 14-1.

In Game 1, Riley Hulke took the loss with 5 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed two earned runs.

Ben Radke went 2 for 3 in Game 1 for Nicollet, while Hulke and Anthony Macias added a double each. Chris Zajac collected his first career varsity hit also for Nicollet.

No stats were submitted for Game 2.

Nicollet travels to take on Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday.
