Taylor, Foley, Berg lead All-Journal offensive team

Cooper Taylor, HB, Wabasso, Sr.

Taylor was a workhorse for the Wabasso offense this year, compiling 2,153 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns. The all-district selection also had 22 receptions for 323 yards and two touchdowns.

Connor Foley, WR, New Ulm, Sr.

Foley was a standout player for the Eagles this season, breaking records and showing off plenty of athleticism along the way. The senior finished the year with 60 receptions, which tied a school record, had 1,201 receiving yards, breaking the previous school record of 747 yards, and compiled 16 touchdown catches, also a new school record.

He averaged 20 yards a catch and 133.44 yards a game for the entire season. Against Worthington, Foley caught 12 passes for 279 yards and a state record six touchdown catches. Against Jordan, Foley caught eight passes for 326 yards, a new state record, and four touchdowns.

David Berg, RB, Cathedral, Jr.

The all-district athlete had his first year at running back this year and ran for 1,225 yards on 128 carries for a 9.6 ypc average. He also had 15 touchdowns for the Greyhounds.

Hunter Ranweiler, QB, New Ulm, Sr.

This was Ranweiler’s first season at quarterback for the Eagles and he had a solid year, completing 109 of 227 passes for 1,774 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 18 touchdown passes on the year broke the previous school season record, which was 17.

The senior also carried the ball 74 times for 314 yards and four touchdowns. Ranweiler passed for a school record 455 passing yards (previous mark was 361) and six touchdowns against Worthington.

Nick Altermatt, QB, Wabasso, Sr.

Altermatt was a four-year starter for the Rabbits with more than 35 wins as a starter. He threw for 1,315 yards with ten touchdowns and three interceptions this season, while completing 89 of 136 passes.

Altermatt also ran for 791 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Ean Thomsen, QB, Nicollet, Sr.

Thomsen was a team captain and the senior quarterback for the Raiders this year after being the leading receiver last season for the team. He completed 121 of 239 passes for 1,665 yards and 19 touchdowns this season.

He also ran for 818 yards and nine touchdowns on 159 carries. He had 12 kickoff returns for 255 yards and a touchdown.

He also finishes his career with 34 catches for 560 yards and five touchdowns at receiver.

Dylan Hillesheim, WR, CM/C, Sr.

Hillesheim was one of the more explosive players in the state this season with 33 receptions for 755 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 12 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Hillesheim also made quite the impact on special teams as well. He had six punt returns for two touchdowns with 29.7 yards a return, while also taking 13 kickoff returns for three touchdowns and 34.4 yards a return.

The senior accounted for 106 of his teams points on the year.

Andrick Sanchez, RB, St. Mary’s, Sr.

The athletic senior running back rushed for 1,250 yards on 185 carries and picked up 17 touchdowns for the Knights. He also threw for 123 yards. He was a staple in the St. Mary’s offense and will be missed next season.

Colton Braulick, RB, Cathedral, Sr.

The all-district running back ran for 1,009 yards on 134 carries, while picking up nine touchdowns on the ground. He also had two touchdown receptions for the Greyhounds.

For his career, Braulick ran for 1,397 yards on an average of 7.4 an attempt and 12 touchdowns.

Decker Scheffler, QB/WR, Springfield, So.

Scheffler showed his athleticism as both a quarterback and receiver for the Tigers, throwing for 1,061 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 266 yards receiving, averaging 29.6 yards per reception, and rushed for 320 yards.

Colton Taylor, WR, Wabasso, Sr.

Taylor had 40 catches this season for the Rabbits for 547 yards and six touchdowns. He was 63 of 70 in extra points and added two field goals on special teams.
