New Ulm boys’ soccer falls 6-3 to Loyola in 2A playoff action

NORTH MANKATO — Mankato Loyola sent New Ulm home on Monday after a 6-3 win in 2A soccer playoff action.

Alex Gutzke had the first Eagles’ goal off an assist by Wyatt Huard with 35:00 left to play in the first half. Wyatt then scored off of an assist from Andy Dake with 29:46 left in the first half.

Huard scored again off of an assist from Brandon Ocampo with 9:40 left in the second half.

Matthew Janke had 13 saves for the Eagles.

Redwood Valley 0

REDWOOD VALLEY —

Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Redwood Valley 25-18, 25-21, 25-14 on Monday night in nonconference volleyball action.

The Cougars were led by Makenzie Kerkhoff who had 11 kills and 13 digs. Erica Bock added 11 kills for CM/C, while Natalie Lux had seven kills and Lexi Toll had four kills with four digs.

Abby Jemmings had 29 set assists and 13 digs for CM/C, while Kylie Wersal led with 20 digs. Taylor Rose and Jordan Kevelin added seven and five digs respectively. Katelyn Green also added four digs.

CM/C next hosts Springfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
