Prep football roundup: Pitts has big day as Knights roll past T-Birds

LCWM 40, GFW 8

LAKE CRYSTAL — Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in South Central District, Blue Subdistrict football action on Friday.

LCWM scored 24 points in the first quarter and scored the first 40 points of the game. Manny Juarez scored GFW’s only touchdown when he scored from 9 yards out in the fourth quarter to make it 40-8 with 6:36 left.

LCWM had 346 yards of total offense compared to 128 for GFW. Dominic Henrichs had 41 yards rushing for the Thunderbirds. Tommy Pitts had 203 yards rushing and three touchdowns for the Knights.

GFW (0-6) is at Sibley East next Friday.

Minneota 64, Springfield 7

SPRINGFIELD — Minneota improved to 6-0 on the season with a big win over Springfield in Southwest District, East Subdistrict football action on Friday.

Springfield’s Decker Scheffler completed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Kieper in the first quarter for Springfield’s only score. The Vikings led 20-7 at the end of the first quarter and 46-7 at halftime.

Springfield (1-5) hosts Sleepy Eye on Friday.

JWP 22, MVL 0

JANESVILLE — Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in Mid-Southeast District, West Subdistrict football action on Friday.

No stats were provided from the game.

MVL (0-6) hosts Medford on Friday.

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 30, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 20

AC/GE 13, Madelia 8

ALDEN — Madelia had two late scoring chances go for nothing as it lost to Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons in a 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football game on Friday.

AC-GE recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and returned it for a score in the first quarter and Madelia took an 8-7 lead after Logan Anderson scored in the first quarter.

The Blackhawks gave up the lead in the third quarter after another turnover and they had two late chances in the fourth quarter but couldn’t convert.

Madelia (1-5) hosts Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Friday.

Cleveland 19, Nicollet 0

NICOLLET — Cleveland blanked Nicollet in 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football action on Friday.

Defensively for Nicollet, Avery Northquest had 19 tackles and 1 fumble recovery and Tory Nelson had 12 tackles. Josh Chadderdon had 10 tackles.

Nicollet (3-3) hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman on Friday.

BLHS 30, St. Mary’s 20

HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart handed Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s its first loss in 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football on Friday.

No stats were provided from the game.

St. Mary’s is at Cleveland next Friday.

CM/C 28, GHEC/T 12

GRANADA — Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman 28-12 on Friday in 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football action.

Eli Samuelson threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Hillesheim for the Cougars, while Brady Forbrook had 19 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. Ben Schacher added a rushing touchdown also for CM/C.

Hillesheim also took a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown. Brandon Leenerts had two sacks for the Cougars on defense, while Dain Dallenbach added 1.5 sacks.

Austin Schumacher added a sack of his own for CM/C.

CM/C is at Madelia next on Friday.
