To the Editor: I taught English for more than half of my life. I didn’t like math, but word problems seemed to make some sense. I’ve come up with a timely word problem that will probably cause a great deal of angst for the former President’s linguistically challenged supporters, who are prone to resorting to vulgar, imperative expletives when they are frustrated and at a loss for words. To the editor: This week we were saddened to read about the impending closure of the Bailey Creek Boutique.   In just seven short years, Bailey Creek became synonymous and emblematic of the resurgence of downtown New Ulm, and yet it seems like it’s always been there.   Make no doubt about it, Bailey Creek will be sorely missed by the many good people who visit New Ulm every year. We have a chance to replace two Democrats

To the editor: The first one to be replaced is Sen. Amy Klobuchar, life long Democrat. Don’t know how long she has been a Democrat and don’t know how long she has been a senator, but I have never voted for her in my lifetime and never will. I want her to be retired and put her out to pasture. Every time she has come up for re-election she would come up with a new bill and pass it and it would always favor the Democrats and would be paid for by the tax payer money. To the Editor: In last week’s area newspapers I read a letter spouting more of the former President’s monotonous recitations about out-of-control inflation, out-of-control spending of money we don’t have, the immigrants at our southern border, and a newcomer to the group, that we make use of the resources that God has given us. In my lifetime, the average annual inflation rate has been a negative number only twice — in 1955 and 2009. Beautiful Memorial Day services

To the editor: Another Memorial Day has come and gone. As I think back, I didn’t attend many until our son, Henry, was killed in Vietnam and haven’t missed one since. The services were beautiful with all the speeches and remembering about the first Memorial Day and the fallen from all wars. The songs by the Concord singers and Municipal Band were outstanding. As it all ended with the Color Guard and the impressive guns salute. I felt comforted and proud of them all. Letters makes broad generalizations

To the Editor: So, according to last week’s “Learning in America” letter, Justice Juan Merchan is not a judge, rather a political activist, and all political activists have been indoctrinated by Marxist professors while attending colleges. That’s what I’d call a broad generalization. Do you really believe that anyone who attends college becomes a Marxist? So, what is Ginni Thomas?
