Physical Therapy Month
To the editor:
October is National Physical Therapy Month. At New Ulm Medical Center, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute employs 16 physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.
Physical Therapists are movement experts who improve quality of life through hands-on care, education and prescribed movement and exercise.
Physical Therapists identify, diagnose and treat movement problems in people of all ages.
Physical Therapists offer alternatives to Opiods for treatment of pain.
Physical Therapists provide individualized care for many neurological conditions such as brain injury, concussion, stroke, vertigo, balance difficulty, MS and Parkinson’s disease, as well as orthopedic conditions including acute or chronic muscle and joint pain. Physical therapists also treat other conditions such as childhood developmental delays, infant torticollis, edema, and cancer care.
At NUMC we participate in a national database for outcomes and consistently provide more improvement in fewer visits than the national average.

I am especially proud of the therapy team at New Ulm Medical Center and the compassionate care they provide every day.
