To the editor:

I’ve been paying much attention to what our congressional candidates have been saying in their ads this election season and I hope others have been as well.

One ad that has had great impact on me is Jim Hagedorn’s TV ad featuring Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag. It brings back memories of the violent riots that occurred in Minneapolis and around the country, and the Democrat leadership’s inability to provide solutions to protect their citizens and deal with the lawlessness and destruction that resulted.

It brings to mind a future with an abolished police force and anarchy-for example, not forgetting the terror that happened in Portland’s anti-police “autonomous zone”. While we are lucky to live in southern Minnesota and have seen only ripples of the shocking unrest of Minneapolis, we are always just one degree-one elected official-away from becoming just like them.

Protecting the 2nd Amendment and supporting law enforcement are two of the most important issues on the ballot this November. Dan Feehan’s webpage and social media are littered with endorsements from anti-gun and anti-police groups that threaten these securities. It’s critical that we re-elect Jim Hagedorn-his endorsements from Gun owners of America, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Minnesota Police and Peace Officer’s Association guarantee a safe and secure future for all of us in Minnesota’s 1st District.
