This Sunday most of the country will be celebrating Easter. In the lead up to Easter Sunday, there will be several holiday themed events held in the community. New Ulm’s Park and Rec traditionally holds an egg hunt in Harman Park today before Easter. It will be moved indoors to the Civic Center due to the weather. The Schell’s Brewery will also host an egg hunt this afternoon. Outside of New Ulm, Easter egg hunts are scheduled in Fairfax, Hanska and Sleepy Eye. The current forecast for today is windy and cold, but conditions are expected to improve for Easter Sunday with temperatures reaching 54 degrees. 

Artemis II mission bring us back to the moon

On April 1, NASA successfully launched the Orion spacecraft as part of the Artemis II space flight. The four astronauts on this mission will be the first crew to travel beyond Earth’s orbit since the last Apollo mission in December 1972. With this mission, the Orion spacecraft will fly around the Moon, using its gravity to assist its return to Earth. The Artemis II mission is a test flight in preparation for a moon surface mission in 2028. It has been over 50 years since humans have landed on the moon. It is exciting to see humanity returning after five decades away.

MN Music Hall of Fame to induct new members

The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame (MMHF) in New Ulm is preparing to host its 2026 induction ceremony. The Awards Banquet will be held Friday, April 10 at Turner Hall in New Ulm. This year the MMHF is inducting seven new members, one more than the traditional six. The new inductees are Swede Wagner, Cornbread Harris, Chan Poling, Rick Keane, Cathy Erickson, the Twin Cities Catholic Gospel and the Chatfield Brass Band & Library. In addition to holding a formal induction ceremony on Friday, the MMHF will also host an open house and showcase for the new inductees Saturday, April 11. The open house and showcase is free to the public. The induction and showcase are a great way to celebrate the best musicians in Minnesota.
