A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 2, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hanska, with Pastor Heather Hammond officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be in the Soldiers Rest Section of the New Ulm City Cemetery following the luncheon.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 am prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Florine is survived by her children, Deb (Dan), Lenise (Pat), Randy (Janelle), Steve (Jane), Janelle (Kevin), Jerry (Melissa), and Alan (Denise). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sister (Ferne), sister-in-law (Marj), and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Verdell; parents; three grandchildren; seven brothers-in-law and four sisters-in law.

Florine was born to Ed and Alice Johnson in New Ulm. She attended country school and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Verdell Aspelund on November 9, 1952. Their union blessed them with seven children. Together they farmed in Linden Township. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards, quilting, gardening, canning, and making baked goods, especially banana bread for her family. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Living Meadows at Luther or an organization of the donor’s choice.
